Meta Overview

While Sabine ECL and Quinlan Tarkintown have proven their mettle by staying at the top of the meta through several weeks of PQs, a new queen emerged in the form of Qi'Ra Data Vault. While the leader has been around for a while, it took suspensions and a lot of tourney testing to find the right blend of control tools to take over the format.

Data Vault has clearly outdone itself in being the best base from Jump to Lightspeed. Just providing that tiny bit of HP for controlling strategies has been instrumental in pushing its decks to victory. Even better, some decks can actually take advantage of its perceived downside of a larger deck count and turn it into a positive thing.

Previously in contention for a top meta deck, Anakin Colossus hasn't gain ground since the last meta report. The standard Anakin Blue version has performed better with the slight shift in the field towards Command-focused ramping archetypes.

As can be expected, Han1 players showed that the Green version is just currently better than the nerfed Yellow that has been predominant for so long. However, the success of Han2 decks is more noteworthy, similar to Qi'Ra being leaders that's finally getting the player attention they deserve.

Finally, we have confirmed the best leader from Set 4: Darth Vader with his fleet of fighters. It's the most successful new strategy fully realized by Jump to Lightspeed cards, a nice aggro alternative to the usual Aggression stuff.

Tier 1

Qi'Ra Data Vault

The format's current top control deck has slowly but steadily climbed up to the its spot after finding the optimal mix of acceleration, answers, and game-ending antagonists. The extra three life buffer from data-vault-jtl-24 seems tiny but it's enough to keep you alive in some games until your expensive cards take over.

The ten extra cards doesn't dilute your card quality as much when they're flexible and/or individually powerful. Qi'Ra herself along with grit units like hylobon-enforcer-shd-27 and devastating-gunship-twi-36 can help clear against aggro decks while shielded sentinels stall.

Essentially, as long as it reaches late game, the Qi'Ra Data Vault deck can overwhelm opponents with a barrage of value.

Sabine ECL

At the other end of deck archetypes is the premier aggro deck Sabine ECL. The deck is pulling back a bit from relying on pilots such as chewbacca-faithful-first-mate-jtl-103 and luke-skywalker-you-still-with-me-jtl-94. Instead, cost-efficient rebels and anti control threats like fighters-for-freedom-sor-143 are rising.

The fast, aggressive units of the deck have several strong synergies with rebel-assault-sor-103 and wing-leader-sor-241. There's a healthy mix of ground and space units so you can pounce harder on the less defended arena.

Quinlan Tarkintown

Quinlan Tarkintown was at the top of the meta not too long ago, as it had solid win rates against the then popular decks. Hand disruption, lots of ping damage, and aggressive units can pile into a heavy midgame board advantage against aggro and control matchups.

The deck grabs strong Aggression cards such as force-throw-sor-167, sabine-wren-explosives-artist-sor-142, and poe-dameron-quick-to-improvise-shd-153 to go with its Cunning core. ahsoka-tano-chasing-whispers-jtl-201 and red-five-running-the-trench-jtl-151 can 2-for-1 with the right trades.

shadowed-hover-tank-jtl-224 can trade with high HP attackers in boarded games. Maindecking some disabling-fang-fighter-sor-162 can be a risk but with pilots and hotshot-dl-44-blaster-shd-174 all over the place it can find targets in the first game.

Largely overshadowed by other leaders on JTL's release, darth-vader-victor-squadron-leader-jtl-6 is now clearly the best performing leader from Set 4. His ability to swarm opponents in space is the reason most decks are packing ways to deal damage to multiple units.

victor-leader-leading-from-the-front-jtl-85 and clone-combat-squadron-jtl-115 are the ultimate payoffs for playing so many cheap space units, the latter of which can like a capital ship. sanctioners-shuttle-twi-213 and death-space-skirmisher-jtl-217 also want flying buddies for full value.

As the only ground units typically included, wingman-victor-two-mauler-mithel-jtl-84 adds an extra flyer on the board while bazine-netal-spy-for-the-first-order-shd-184 can snipe the best card or best answer the opponent holds so you can go wide unimpeded.

Han1 Green

Going Command has proven to be the best option for Han1 players in the new meta instead of the standard double Cunning approach. Ramping is the next best thing to complement the leader's resource generation, letting you deploy stronger threats faster than the opponent.

u-wing-reinforcement-sor-104 is a massive payoff for ramping, as it can be a 3 for 1 or a silver bullet tutor. han-solo-has-his-moments-jtl-203 and his pick of Millennium Falcons to jump into to shoot first and create board advantage early on.

Reusing cards in the discard pile with home-one-alliance-flagship-sor-102 along with the usual smuggle Han1 is known for makes this a midrange beast that can go the distance.

Rey Data Vault

Rey leads a bunch of rebels to stall and hold the line until your haymakers get the situation under control. This is a grindy deck that aims for board control with low power high HP units along with restore to keep your base healthy.

The extra cards from the base along with more card draw effects mean you won't really run out of cards even as you trade blows with the opponent. Plus, you can replay damaged units with bright-hope-the-last-transport-sor-99 or bring dead ones back with home-one-alliance-flagship-sor-102. It also runs targeted removal for more problematic late game threats.

If you like burying your opponents under a ton of cards, this is a great pick.

Han2 Data Vault

Rather than ramping, accelerating your drops by one turn can be well worth the two damage they take from han-solo-worth-the-risk-shd-13. You can land haymakers like hevy-staunch-martyr-twi-164 and poe-dameron-quick-to-improvise-shd-153 to take board advantage or simply get ahead in the race with higher power attackers. Getting one turn early mace-windu-party-crasher-sor-149 and krayt-dragon-shd-172 is also a winning gameplan.

Similar to most Data Vault decks, replaying units via the rebel Command ships can turn into a hefty card advantage in the long run. This deck also runs rebellious-hammerhead-jtl-153 to get more value of card draw and bounce. Chaining and looping these cards happens more often than you'd think.

Cad Tarkintown

Losing Triple Dark Raid was a big hit for Cad Tarkintown, so it's now a lot more ground unit heavy to compensate. jabba-the-hutt-cunning-daimyo-sor-181 adds some card advantage in getting you Tricks like ma-klounkee-shd-229, which becomes a free bounce for a damaged ambush unit along with removal.

cad-bane-hostage-taker-twi-187 is big against decks without a direct method of removing him, netting you cards or trading with even more units. The ambush potential of this Underworld deck is scary as it can choose between taking out units or hitting base easily depending on how well the opponent can react.
